When photographer Lissa Alexandra sent us this alternative bridal shoot, we were fixated. The drama of the moody setting and mysterious, edgy styling reminded us of something from the likes of Game of Thrones. This is the ultimate inspiration for a woodland wedding with a touch of drama!
Lissa says, “In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales lies a hidden treasure of mystery and beauty called Druid’s Temple. Situated in the grounds of Swinton Park Estate, laid in the woods on a hill overlooking a reservoir. Down the track from the woods is a farm, now turned into a visitor centre with accommodation called The Bivouac. They offer wedding ceremonies next to the temple and around the grounds. I’ve shot a few weddings there now and it’s my favourite outdoor venue; there’s an indescribable energy to the place.
Megan [Green] wanted to create some unique headdresses, something a bit edgy so she could match the style with some eye-catching makeup. The flowers were created by Jo from Twisted Willows who followed the brief for the two individual looks, using blood red roses offset by rich green ivy leaves and complimented with pheasant feathers as the estate is used for hunting parties.
With the photography I wanted the shoot to really highlight the stunning colours in Megan’s headdresses and make-up. The richness of the shades had to come through in the images so I created a unique filter to add in post processing.”
