We had the pleasure of joining Kate Fearnley on her new collection bridal shoot. Travelling in a VW Lovedub we captured the luxury and style of the collection from country to sea with photographers Michael Cartwright and Natalie Pluck.
This first look for Kate Feanley’s bridal collection was photographed on the North Yorkshire Moors by Michael Cartwright.
Kate Fearnley has been well established as an occasion wear designer since 2002 and has since seen her quirky, colourful and sophisticated creations adorn celebrities on the red carpet, ladies at the races, prom girls, and wedding guests.
After 15 years in business, the brand has expanded from award-winning fashion, prom and occasion wear and has now added bridal and bridal party to the list.
“The boutique works by appointed so that I can focus on the customer and spend the time uninterrupted to create the dress of their dreams. I like to work with classic and flattering silhouettes which suit and compliment women’s shapes. I then like to bring the garment to life with the quirky twist of detailing. My inspiration is classic vintage and although I have a fondness of the 50s I look to all sorts of eras for inspiration. This new collection sees influences from the 20s, 50s, 60s and 70s. I have worked with subtle colour this season as a twist on the ‘classic’ ivory.”
The second look for Kate Fearnley’s new collection was photographed in the picturesque coastal location of Staithes by Natalie Pluck.
How much does it cost? If it is bespoke, it sounds expensive!
We have made wedding dresses from £350 … It all depends on the fabric and detailing. All the fittings (however many it takes) and made-to-measure are included in the price.
Time scale … How soon do I need to book?
We design and create everything from our Middlesbrough studio. We work around the bride for measurements and book fittings in when it suits the customer. We have made wedding dresses in the space of a month but we like to have at least 6 months ideally. It is always worth asking if it is a last minute enquiry too.
Tell us more about the design process.
Over the past 15 years in business, I have designed and created for many shapes and different styles of dresses. We create bespoke designs for our brides, tailored to their likes. For instance, if you have an eye on one of my dress designs but would prefer a lower back or would like to add sleeves or other extra details I will create this dream dress for you. I will talk through everything with the customer and finally, draw up a design based on what they want. I then bring it to life; it’s that simple! You get your perfect dress and nobody will have exactly the same dress as you! It is unique and special and the best thing is it doesn’t cost the earth like you might expect.
