Run by James and Rachel from their beautiful home in Middleton St George, TipiChic and Lovedubcars are both businesses born out of passion. They have grown from strength to strength, and not only do they run the business professionally and efficiently, but with genuine excitement and love every day.
“Following our infamous pub night ten years ago where we set our hearts on offering a good wedding car service James says, research began in earnest the next day, only to find more than enough classic car companies to feel the market was becoming saturated. We looked for a point of difference, and that’s when we got our first VW Beetle in white – and the business was born. We wanted to provide something unique, something unusual and not seen before. We rode the crest of the big vintage revolution that was just starting to gather steam, taking enough bookings and building enough to be able to get cars two, three and four; by year five we had three camper vans added to the fold. The business is really built around personality – we generally operate with stylishly-dressed female drivers who have that extra attention to detail – they can help sort a bride’s dress before she goes into Church, or sort Dad’s buttonhole, almost like an honorary bridesmaid. All of these small touches go a long way. The cars and campers are beautifully refurbished, and really are like family!
Our tipis can be hired individually for 60-65 people, or joined together for larger parties – two tipis together can hold around 130. They’re fully staffed with a full bar (including draught!) and are so individual! We can provide a chill out tipi for people to relax, fire pits, and the set-up really is up to the couple; perhaps they want long trestle tables and benches for a relaxed feel, or round tables for eight. We’re gathering styling and props all the time. We provide oodles of gorgeous lighting from twinkling fairy lights to spotlights to really create an atmosphere, and bunting is available. Our aim is to keep it uncomplicated, and I think that reflects in our pricing. It’s not “hire from …”, it’s a set price. It takes the surprise out of the costing and means couples don’t have to hold back. My only question at the start is about guest numbers, and from there, the creative fun starts! Generally, the tipi is yours for the weekend – for a Saturday wedding, we’ll begin setting up on a Thursday. Friday is free for decorating and a handover to the couple, showing them how everything works. Saturday is the big day, and Sunday is also part of the package – perhaps they want to host a barbeque at their venue as a wind-down from the excitement of the day before, or to say goodbye to people who’ve travelled to see them.
Our aim is to help couples have an awesome wedding. From vintage VDubs to a relaxed tipi wedding, we want to the couple to feel individual, cool, and most of all, taken care of.”
