But there was one other thing that the grown-ups also knew, and it was this: that however small the chance might be of striking lucky, the chance was there. The chance had to be there.

Dr Seuss Wedding Readings

Oh, The Places You’ll Go! by Dr Seuss!

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look ’em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street.

And you may not find any
you’ll want to go down.
In that case, of course,
you’ll head straight out of town.

It’s opener there
in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.

And then things start to happen,
don’t worry. Don’t stew.
Just go right along.
You’ll start happening too.

OH!
THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!

You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers
who soar to high heights.

You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed.
You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead.
Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best.
Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

Except when you don’t.
Because, sometimes, you won’t.

I’m sorry to say so
but, sadly, it’s true
that Bang-ups
and Hang-ups
can happen to you.

You can get all hung up
in a prickle-ly perch.
And your gang will fly on.
You’ll be left in a Lurch.

You’ll come down from the Lurch
with an unpleasant bump.
And the chances are, then,
that you’ll be in a Slump.

And when you’re in a Slump,
you’re not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself
is not easily done.

You will come to a place where the streets are not marked.
Some windows are lighted. But mostly they’re darked.
A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!
Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?
How much can you lose? How much can you win?

And IF you go in, should you turn left or right…
or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find,
for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.

You can get so confused
that you’ll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles cross weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place…

…for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or the waiting around for a Yes or No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for the wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.

NO!
That’s not for you!

Somehow you’ll escape
all that waiting and staying
You’ll find the bright places
where Boom Bands are playing.

With banner flip-flapping,
once more you’ll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky.
Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done!
There are points to be scored. There are games to be won.
And the magical things you can do with that ball
will make you the winning-est winner of all.
Fame! You’ll be as famous as famous can be,
with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

Except when they don’t
Because, sometimes they won’t.

I’m afraid that some times
you’ll play lonely games too.
Games you can’t win
’cause you’ll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not,
Alone will be something
you’ll be quite a lot.

And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance
you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.
There are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.

But on you will go
though the weather be foul.
On you will go
though your enemies prowl.
On you will go
though the Hakken-Kraks howl.
Onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore
and your sneakers may leak.

On and on you will hike,
And I know you’ll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.

You’ll get mixed up, of course,
as you already know.
You’ll get mixed up
with many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life’s
a Great Balancing Act.
Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)

KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

You’re off the Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!
“Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right. Forgive the ones who don’t, and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it’d be easy. They just promised it would be worth it.”

Dr Seuss wedding reading ideas

These shorter passages and quotes would be great for younger readers.

“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

Sometimes you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”

“Things are never quite as scary when you’ve got a best friend.”

Love is a song that never ends.

Love’s sweet music flows on.

Toy Story Wedding Reading

“You’ve got a friend in me,
You’ve got a friend in me,
When the road looks rough ahead,
And you’re miles and miles,
From your nice warm bed,
You just remember what your old pal said,
Boy, you’ve got a friend in me,
Yeah, you’ve got a friend in me,

You’ve got troubles, and I’ve got ’em too,
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you,
We stick together and can see it through,
‘Cause you’ve got a friend in me,
You’ve got a friend in me…”

“And at last I see the light
And it’s like the fog has lifted

And it’s like the sky is new
And it’s warm and real and bright

All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you.”

Finding Nemo Wedding reading

“Please don’t go away. Please? No one’s ever stuck with me for so long before. And if you leave… if you leave… I just, I remember things better with you.

I do, look. P. Sherman, forty-two… forty-two… I remember it, I do.

It’s there, I know it is, because when I look at you, I can feel it.

And I look at you, and I’m home.”

Frozen Wedding Reading

“We need each other to raise us up and round us out.
Everyone’s a bit of a fixer-upper
but when push comes to shove
the only fixer-upper fixer
that can fix up a fixer-upper is
true, true, true, true, true, true, love.”

QUOTES BY OLAF, FROZEN
“Love … is … putting someone else’s needs before yours.”

“Some people are worth melting for.”

Sleeping Beauty

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream

I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam

Yet I know it’s true that visions are seldom all they seem

But if I know you, I know what you’ll do

You’ll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream.”

Beauty and the Beast

“Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the beast.”

Aladdin

A whole new world,
A new fantastic point of view,
No one to tell us no,
Or where to go,
Or say we’re only dreaming,
A whole new world,
A dazzling place I never knew,
But when I’m way up here,
It’s crystal clear,
That now I’m in a whole new world with you,
Now I’m in a whole new world with you,

Tarzan

“‘Cause you’ll be in my heart,
Yes, you’ll be in my heart,
From this day on,
Now and forever more,
You’ll be in my heart,
No matter what they say,
You’ll be here in my heart,
Always…”

Pocahontas

If I never knew you
If I never felt this love
I would have no inkling of
How precious life can be
And if I never held you
I would never have a clue
How at last I’d find in you
The missing part of me
If I never knew you
I’d be safe but half as real
Never knowing I could feel
A love so strong and true
I’m so grateful to you
I’d have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you.

Winnie the Pooh by A.A Milne

“’If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.’

Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. ‘Pooh?’ he whispered. ‘Yes, Piglet?’

‘Nothing,’ said Piglet, taking Pooh’s hand. ‘I just wanted to be sure of you.’

‘We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ asked Piglet.

‘Even longer,’ Pooh answered. ‘If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together…there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.'”

Wedding Readings for Teenagers

So while Disney and Winnie the Pooh might be fine for your younger readings your teenagers will definately need a cool wedding reading inspired by a more modern vibe.  Think Harry Potter, Twilight and possibly….

The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman

“I will love you forever; whatever happens. Till I die and after I die, and when I find my way out of the land of the dead, I’ll drift about forever, all my atoms, till I find you again…I’ll be looking for you, every moment, every single moment. And when we do find each other again, we’ll cling together so tight that nothing and no one’ll ever tear us apart. Every atom of me and every atom of you…We’ll live in birds and flowers and dragonflies and pine trees and in clouds and in those little specks of light you see floating in sunbeams…And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me.”

Good Will Hunting

“It doesn’t matter if the guy is perfect or the girl is perfect, as long as they are perfect for each other.” —Sean

Corpse Bride

“With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup shall never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way in darkness. And with this ring, I ask you to be mine.” —Victor Van Dort

Twilight – Bella and Edward

“It’s an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to, and who will accept you for what you are. I’ve been waiting, what seems like a very long time, to get beyond what I am. And now…I feel like I can finally begin…No measure of time with you will be long enough. But let’s start with forever.”

I’ll meet you there – Heather Demetrios

“If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?’ I opened my mouth to say San Francisco or maybe Madrid—somewhere exotic. But what came out was, ‘Here. Right here.'”
