Bexbrides opening event

Bex Brides Opening Event 2Well, the evening of Tuesday the 18th of December wasn’t my average kind of mid-week eve. I was kindly invited to an opening event in Hurworth for a bridal boutique with a vintage twist.
This specific occasion was to celebrate the grand opening of Bexbrides, a wonderful attic studio that specialises in bespoke and pre-loved bridal gowns and accessories. Every inch of this vintage boutique was delicately glazed in antique glamour and every outfit as opulently different as the next. Bexbrides also holds a treasure trove of beautiful maid’s outfits and evening gowns in a perfectly extensive range of colours and glamorous encrusted hair bands and head pieces to make your vintage outfit sparkle. Adding to this small but perfectly formed soirée were a few added treats! Sweet Memories catered for our sweet tooth by adding candied table centre pieces while Heather from Heavenly Created Cakes and Wendy from Alice’s Vintage Kitchen provided delicious delicacies and a vintage gramophone to set the mood for the evening. Perfect!
A perfect place and event to get me into the mind set of marriage as a lasting institution to which you are a member for as long as you both shall live.
Rebecca Jane – known as Bexbrides has been based at Hurworth Grange for 5 years and started off as a ‘Sewing Studio’ taking in commissions for alterations; demand from clients requesting something different to the high street rapidly propelled this business into the Bridal Industry.
Passionate about history, vintage styles and eco friendly values mean’t that Bex could combine all of these elements to provide ‘affordable dresses that were different to the high street’.
Bex Brides Opening Event 3The Personal service and advice is key; and I don’t mean the assistant gushing about how lovely you look; purchasing a wedding dress isn’t like walking into Top Shop there are a lot of considerations to take into account. Bex advises brides to make sure that they are wearing the correct underwear at their fittings, a small detail like this is very important and can save on having the dress altered. ‘It suprises me how many girls turn up in black underwear with straps etc. and this can really affect how the dress looks and feels’.
Another common problem is being supplied with the wrong hoop, the wrong hoop can mean that you have to have the dress altered, not all bridal shops stock a wide enough range of these.
Top Tip: Allow plenty of time on the day to get dressed and either invest in someone to dress you or make sure your maids are with you at the fittings so they can learn how the dress is mean’t to be worn.
Finally a double celebration as Bex has won the Regional category for ‘Best Dress Designer’ in the Northeast at the Wedding Industry awards; a first class testimony from her clients as to the fabulous products and service delivered.
