We challenged one Mystery Bride to chronicle her journey from engagement to The Big Day!

“The excitement of first getting engaged has settled and now it’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty, and decide on a date and a venue!
This is probably the most difficult and stressful part of the planning! Trying to decide on a date you both like, and whether to go for a Church service or civil ceremony, and whether that takes place in a registry office or in a hotel is a big decision. I now understand why people say planning your own wedding is stressful, there’s so much to choose from and if you don’t know where to start, then it can make the excitement of it all become very daunting in a short space of time.
Having the opportunity to go and look round all of the hotels, country houses and village halls our area has to offer can make for a fun few weeks, but also can be a testing time in the early stages of your engagement.
Trying to find your perfect venue with the matching date to make it official is a lot harder than it sounds! You might love the idea of a beautiful country house set in gorgeous manicured gardens, with a formal 3 course meal and traditional wedding set-up, but your partner has the idea of a marquee set in a field in the country side over looking the farm land and hills with an informal BBQ for the wedding breakfast. How do you compromise?
Sleepless nights and stressful days come along with it. My head whirred with thoughts of “Am I going to be able to get that venue with the date we want? What if all of the Saturdays in August are taken?”.
This has to be the most stress that planning a wedding has to it, right?
But once you and your partner have discussed it, thoroughly, and you know which venue and date your going to go with, and the same date is available, it feels like the suns rays are shining down on you and you can breathe a sigh of relief. After what seems like months of looking and planning you can officially say:
I am getting married on 30th August 2014!
I know many Brides-To-Be are, or have been in the same predicament as me and know how tough all of this planning can be. It may be cliché, but when you find the perfect venue for you and your partner, it all becomes real! “I’m the Bride-to-be. I’m going to be a Mrs!”
Now comes the hard part: Not becoming Bridezilla!
