Katy and Peter work for Bauer Media and met at Viking FM in Hull in January 2013. Peter was the new radio presenter and Katy had been promoted to Head of the Yorkshire Cash for Kids charities.
Peter carefully and thoughtfully planned the engagement; he surprised Katy with a trip to Dublin where her late grandparents had got married. Peter proposed outside the very church on the same day that would have been Katy’s Grandparents 64th wedding anniversary.
Katy had always dreamt of getting married at the Winterschladen (Grandparents) family home. “We had a clear vision of what we wanted our Marquee to look like and Black Cherry Events helped create our very personal, elegant wedding venue that had the “wow” factor for our guests.
“We wanted our wedding to be elegant, personal and have the best mix of Pete and I. Pete has loved tractors since growing up in the countryside and so it was very important for him to arrive at Church in a huge “Black Beauty”Fendt 939 that Peacock and Binnington very kindly supplied for us. I have always dreamt of my wedding day from being a little girl. I love detail and wanted to make our wedding very special and memorable. We created the K&P crest with our friend David who runs a design agency. We wanted theK&P crest to represent the style of our wedding and we used it on the invitations, menus, table names, table plans, gifts, right through to the thank you cards. We had black and white photos of our late Grandparents framed with candles and a sign in the entrance marquee. My father in law created an amazing sign that had our special landmarks written on it – Hull, where we met, Dublin, where Pete proposed, New York, where I was surprised for my 30th birthday and Knaresborough being where we live plus an extra signpost directing to the marquee with “Mr & Mrs Egerton” upon it. My Dad also surprised us with a special flag at the bottom of the drive with the K&P crest which wowed guests and also made it clear where the reception was from the Church.”
