We are very excited here at KTB to bring you the wedding of Mr & Mrs Hanley!
It was Grinkle Park’s beauty, friendly welcome and attention to detail that made bride and groom Matthew and Sam Hanley want to hold their special day at the beautiful country house hotel. Here Matthew, 30, an electrician, and Sam, 24, a nanny, from Stockton, share their memories of a big day they planned and arranged in just 10 weeks – and one they always remember.
The wedding took place at the gorgeous Grinkle Park Hotel on November 23rd 2013. They married in the Palmer Suite at 1pm followed by the wedding breakfast and then an evening reception.
We met on Match.com in October 2009. We met for our first date a few days later, after a couple of phone calls. We seemed to hit it off straight away.
While working in Afghanistan Matt booked a surprise long weekend away to Sorrento, Italy in March 2011. We stayed in the beautiful 5* Bellevue Syrene Hotel. On the way out for a quiet meal in a lovely restaurant, Matt stopped Sam on the cliffside balcony and dropped to one knee with an engagement ring. Sam burst out laughing with nerves asking if he was serious, then realising he was, said yes.
Sam wore an ivory/white strapless gown with beautiful beaded and sequined detail across the bodice, and gentle ruffles in the skirt. The dress was traditionally corseted at the back and came from Dobinsons bridal shop in Darlington.
We chose Grinkle Park because it had the wow factor as you arrive down the driveway. The interior of the hotel is beautiful and homely, with the log fire warming the whole place. We knew from the moment we visited for a quick look around that it would be perfect. It is hard to pin down the best thing about the hotel as it was all amazing, but Richard (the manager) and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. They made the day perfect, we couldn’t have asked for more.
We have different views on the best part of the day! Sam will always remember the exchanging of vows and being nervous before walking down the aisle, Matt will remember the moment he looked back at Sam while walking down the aisle, and the first dance going so well after realising neither of us could dance during practice sessions. The evening function was also a big hit, and everyone comments on how much fun they had.
We’d definitely recommend Grinkle Park to anyone who’s thinking about it! Over and over again. The venue is beautiful in all seasons, and the staff are amazing. Richard made sure everything went smoothly, and every request was tended to without complaint.
