Today we’re escaping our roots in the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, and heading to a spectacular venue that we just couldn’t keep from you any longer. Set in the heart of the Devon countryside, the Mamhead estate makes a fairy-tale wedding venue, and compromises of both a house and a castle.

The house itself is bursting with love stories from the past. The Georgian estate was built by Sir Robert Newman for his bride Mary as their marriage home. Their initials are placed around the house, alongside the family moto ‘ubi amor ibi fides” meaning ‘where there is love there is trust.’
With 10 reception rooms alongside a separate orangery, this country gem really is the perfect wedding venue. The house also has a picturesque Italian style terrace and over 166 acres of land, with sunken gardens that boast panoramic views of the East Devon Coast.

The venue is fully licensed to hold your ceremony either in the castle or the house. Mamhead Castle is Grade II listed, and is a copy of Northumberland’s 14th century Belsay Castle.
The character inside the house really speaks for itself, with stained glassed windows paired with Gothic interiors, Mamhead House really is an incredible wedding venue. With plenty of rooms to house your wedding party, you can really feel at home on your wedding day.

One of the most breath-taking features of this beautiful house is the grand imperial staircase, which would make the perfect backdrop for your all-important wedding photography.
Mamhead House is also a celebrity favourite, and has been home to the wedding of Peter Andre and his wife Emily McDonagh back in July 2015.
