National shows are the largest bridal exhibitions and are mainly hosted in cities across the UK. They feature over one hundred specialists and suppliers coming from all corners of the country and are always a ticketed event. A handful of these events are aimed at wedding retailers and industry professionals where they can find new fashion items for their stores, such as The Harrogate Bridal Show we attended, but there are still plenty of national wedding shows aimed at bridal parties. These exhibitions feature one or two fashion shows showcasing new gowns from designers and sometimes have workshops that can be booked onto to before the event. These events are perfect for brides and grooms-to-be who don’t mind travelling for their perfect wedding features or for those who are in the early stages of planning and are looking for inspiration.
Regional shows are just like national shows but on a smaller scale and focusing on wedding suppliers within a certain region or county. They take place in larger venues such as sports stadiums or conference centres and sometimes are ticketed or have on the door paid entry. These events usually feature more than one wedding specialist within the same trade, so there is plenty of choice to suit different ideas. This type of wedding fair is great for couples to find and meet businesses within their location. Join us at The Pretty Gorgeous Regional Wedding Show at the Northern Echo Arena on Sunday 6th November 2016 and find your regional wedding specialists.

Boutique Wedding Fairs are the most common wedding fair, and usually take place in town halls or community centres. They feature around 50 different vendors from the area who can all give you great advice. This is a great opportunity to not only meet local businesses but to catch up and book with particular specialists you have already chosen. Most of these fairs have free entry and are open for a couple of hours on a Sunday, with a chance to grab yourself a goodie bag and literature.
Open Days, Evenings and Weekends are hosted at wedding venues and feature their chosen businesses. They give couples the chance to explore a potential venue, to see the rooms and spaces that could hold their reception or their ceremony, and to meet the wedding co-ordinators who will look after their every need. This also gives venues the opportunity to present the wedding specialists who usually cater for the venue, such as florists and décor stylists. Although you aren’t usually obliged to use these businesses, there is a chance they may offer a discount if you choose that venue. Businesses also put on Open Days and Evenings within their stores and showcase their new products and lines to potential clients. These certain events allow brides and grooms to have one-to-one conversations with specialists.
Online Wedding Fairs are starting to become popular on social media. Simply accept an invite to an event, mainly on Facebook, and sit back and relax as they introduce you to different specialists and retailers on the internet. This is a great way to find hidden gems and small businesses who you might not see at a Wedding Fair. A lot of wedding-based Facebook groups and pages run in a ‘wedding fair’ style where different suppliers can post and share their businesses online for those in the group to see. Of course, if the group is international, it can be hard to find someone within your area but there are plenty of local groups that promote local businesses. A good example of this is our Wedding Wednesday, which we run on our Facebook page between 4 and 8pm every Wednesday and showcase a handful of our suppliers from our ‘Little White Book’.
