With its cobble stoned streets, warmer climates and fantastic food, Sorrento is quickly becoming the Italian wedding destination of choice, and it’s not hard to see why. Spending your special day on the Amalfi Coast couldn’t be more magical, with breath-taking views of the Mediterranean providing a stunning backdrop for the wedding shots.
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to venues for civil ceremonies in Sorrento. One of the most popular choices is the 14th Century San Francesco Cloisters, an ancient medieval building in the heart of Sorrento surrounded by idyllic gardens filled with vines.
If a villa wedding is more your bag, then Villa Fondi in Piano di Sorrento gives stunning views of the Bay of Naples, with Mount Vesuvius offering an incredible backdrop. Just a five minute drive from the centre, the villa is a national monument and is immersed within a beautiful park bursting with citrus trees.
According to Italian tradition, the newlyweds get sugared almonds thrown over them before they walk the streets, which not only gives the bride and groom the opportunity to get some natural shots with the photographer but also gives the locals a chance to congratulate and applaud them.
After your ceremony, it’s time to relax with loved ones, giving you time to really enjoy your special day. But while some might cry at the thought of leaving the extended family behind, a wedding abroad is the perfect choice if you want to be surrounded by your nearest loved ones for a more intimate special day. Smaller weddings not only give you more time with those close to you, but they also give you more time to spend together and enjoy your day as a couple.
And if the good weather and romantic settings weren’t enough, then the food is sure to convince you that a wedding in Italy is the one for you. From mouth-watering homemade pasta to fresh fish and seafood, the food, wine and hospitality in Sorrento is second to none. We’re drooling at the thought!
It might even be harder to choose where to hold your wedding reception than it is to pick where you have your civil ceremony. Do you go for a sea view terrace restaurant, or an exclusive villa? There’s just so much choice in Sorrento and all are equally as beautiful and romantic.
And after your special day has sadly come to an end, you can relax knowing that you still have time left in Sorrento to enjoy with close friends and family. It’s like the wedding and honeymoon rolled into one! (What more could you wish for?)
And it’s easier than you think to arrange a wedding in Sorrento, the paperwork can only be processed six months before but this can usually only take up to six weeks to complete.
Here at Kiss the Bride we have fallen head over heels for Sorrento, so much so that we are heading out there ourselves to bring you a fabulous photoshoot for the next issue of our magazine! So don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for that.
Are you dreaming of a Sorrento wedding? We would love to hear from all of you blushing brides-to-be!
