Cape Town-based designer Elbeth Gillis has made a bold-move and revealed two capsule bridal collections for 2017.
The two collections both contrast each other, with Luxury a selection of glamorous gowns and Milk and Honey offers separates, but both have Elbeth’s sophisticated eye for detail and use of luxurious satin and chiffon materials.
Luxury is a seductive collection of 8 gowns, featuring figure hugging mermaid shirts and ball gowns. Using stretch satin, silk chiffon and lace overlays, Elbeth Gillis has created a sumptuous collection that create a sophisticated silhouette for any bride. Each gown has emphasis on the back and shoulders, with lace detailing, chiffon keyhole openings and delicate satin bows. ‘Annabelle’ is the traditional satin ball gown skirt, but its plunge neckline decorated with floral detailing and open back adds luxurious romance, while the lace detailed bodice and arms on ‘Ellen’ creates a modern touch to the elegant figure-hugging mermaid skirt in soft satin.

Milk and Honey has a striking contrast to the Luxury in it’s clever use of separates. Where Luxury is for the sophisticated and seductive bride, Milk and Honey is for the minimalist and practical woman. The collection has a choice of three bodices that can be matched with four different skirts; ‘Shelby’, a satin empire with buttoned back and train, ‘Scarlet’, a traditional flowing ball gown, ‘Harper’, an asymmetrical full skirt with a gentle waterfall hemline and hidden pockets, and ‘Priscilla’, a knee-length quirky skirt filled with ostrich feathers. The gentle chiffon and lace overlays add detail and a timeless twist to the modern creations.
