The Beauty Edit: 1950s Make Up Look

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Monday’s real wedding from Becky and Chris has sent us all a little bit 50s/pin-up crazy! Because of this, we thought we’d give you a quick run down on how to create the perfect pin-up bridal look.

1. Foundation

A good foundation is key here, get it right then the rest will follow! The pin-up look is all about flawless and glowing skin so we recommend NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, £31 – narscosmetics.co.uk

2. Eyebrows

Thicken your eyebrows with a brow pencil, we love this one by Laura Mercier, £17.50 – www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Laura+Mercier .Well groomed and shaped eyebrows frame your face and will perfect the look, emphasis on the brows is important for this so have fun!

3. Eyeshadow

Moving onto the eyes, a base needs to be applied. The 1950s eyeshadow look isn’t too heavy so something like Vanilla, by MAC will work well, £13 – www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/. A darker shade like Wedge, again by MAC – www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/ should now be applied in the crease of the eye to contour the eyes and create definition.

4. Eyeliner

The most important and crucial part to the whole look! Winger eyeliner can be tricky but with practice it becomes a lot easier. I’d recommend L’Oreal Infallible The Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner, £6.99 – www.superdrug.com. This product is super easy to use, especially if you’re a beginner and is great for getting close to the lash line for perfect precision.

5. Mascara

If you aren’t a dab hand at applying false eyelashes, Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara, £19.50 – www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk, is the next best thing! Apply a good covering of mascara to really open up the eyes for the pin-up feel.

6. Concealer

A good concealer is needed to cover any dark circles and blemishes you have to make sure your face looks as flawless as possible. Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, £19 – www.bobbibrown.co.uk, is a great good coverage product that can work wonders -literally!

7. Cheeks

Estee Lauder are great for blusher, run a small amount of this one in Pink Kiss, £27  – www.esteelauder.co.uk, over the apples of your cheek using a big blush brush.

8. Lips

The second most important element of the whole look is the bright red, full looking lips! Achieve this by using a good quality lip liner to line the lips and avoid any smudging once the colour is applied. Russian Red, £15.50 by MAC is the ultimate pin-up lip colour and is a Holy Grail item for many beauty fans.
Once this is completed, you’re good to go and have finished the ultimate 1950s/pin-up look. Will you be trying this for your wedding day?
