Foliage and Metallics Winter Wedding Theme

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

A wintry gathering of shimmering textures, mirrored tones of glass, crystal and copper, ferns and potted succulents. This is a fabulous alternative winter wedding theme bringing a crisp, clean, classic warmth to the colder season.  A winter wedding theme filled with evergreen foliage to give a really lush organic vibe, the British alternative to rainforest.

How to achieve this look

Smoked glass vessels filled with grand Nephrolepis fern paired with soft, flowing Maiden Hair fern give contrast, balance and texture.  Sequined cloths display glittering spaces as White Jasmine spreads its heady scent as it lays relaxed between each table setting. A beautiful organic arrangement.

The use of potted plants rather than cut flowers is a great example of how the cost of your wedding could be reduced. Many people have these plants as standard in their homes, so they can be readily sourced. And unlike cut flowers you don’t need to worry too much as to whether they will survive in the days leading up to your big day.

Jasmine is of course seasonal and is generally flowering in the spring to summer. If your lucky enough to have this growing in your garden like I am then this would be my go to greenery for a trailing type of foliage.

A relaxed seating plan in tones of cotton whites and twine pinned washing lines, sits perfectly within this natural setting. Snipped sprigs and miniature branches of foliage hang from guilded pegs to add that extra depth of decoration.

Lighting and Scent

If your not going for flowers, then work on other sensory ideas such as lighting and scents to create the mood and atmosphere.

Using glass votives, lit with scented tea lights, is not only a wonderful way of creating gentle lighting but you can evoke a mood with a fragrance. Whether your choice is a warm spiced cinnamon or a gentle whisper of jasmine they can help portray your theme for the day.

Sparkled tabled numbers from laid onto a sequined ground will add glimmers of sparkle to your table as they reflect light. We love how sparklers can be used to take your guests out into the late evening to draw love hearts in the air.
