Kelvin and Kirsty first locked eyes on each other at V Festival, sharing food and their love of music and later reconnecting via Facebook.
“Kelvin took me away to my favourite place (Cornwall) camping for the weekend to celebrate the anniversary of the date we met. We went into Newquay for food then as it got dark we had a nightcap at The Boathouse listening to the sound of the sea. It’s such a romantic place with the fishing boats straight in front and candles everywhere. He then asked if I fancied a walk back along the beach and halfway, under the stars, he turned me around and put one knee in the sand. It was perfect and perfectly us.
Immediately on viewing Wray’s Barn we fell in love. It felt warm and friendly; it’s a family run business and definitely retains the charm of this. It embraced the outdoors with so much greenery and outside space. The beams, fairy lights and the fact they weren’t selling a set package but would fit it around your wishes and personalities. Topped with the fact they offered a ‘Festival Theme’ and that’s how we met- it just felt right. It was quirky for us whilst being comfortable for all our guests.
Obviously the Festival theme was the overall vibe we were going but it was also important that our wedding felt relaxed. It was a whole family occasion and so we had our Weimaraner ‘Woody’ dropped off wearing his bow tie after all the guests had eaten. It all worked out perfectly.
During the day we had an amazing acoustic duo called The Project, there was table football which was a huge hit and space hopper races. For the evening we had a Motown band called ‘Soul Rebels’ play. We also had a great DJ called Sunshine Daze who played around the band and finished the night on a high. The traditional fish n chip van went down a treat. Along with the sparklers, teepee with log fire and s’mores to toast on the fire. We didn’t want the day to end.”
“My favourite moment of the day was seeing Kirsty walk into the church,” says Kelvin. “I was really anxious before that as she was running a bit late, the music finally started playing and when I saw her I just thought she looked stunning. Her dress was very different to what I’d imagined but was far better- she looked beautiful.”
“For me, my most memorable moment was our first dance,” remembers Kirsty. “It felt so intimate even though we were being watched and snapped. We sang the words to each other and thinking about it just makes smile.”
